Derry Brabbs is acclaimed as one of the UK’s finest published photographers with over 30 illustrated books to his credit. His evocative portraits of the Yorkshire Dales contributed to the success of world-wide bestseller James Herriot’s Yorkshire and that distinctive photographic style also featured prominently in Derry’s hugely popular seven book collaboration with Alfred Wainwright on the Lake District, Scotland and the Pennine Way and Coast to Coast long distance footpaths.

As an author in his own right, Derry Brabbs has written 12 beautifully photographed titles, the majority of which celebrate Britain’s unique countryside and richly endowed architectural heritage. Landscapes and religious medieval architecture are also the principal subjects in two lavishly illustrated titles highlighting the resurgence of activity over recent decades along the ancient pilgrimage routes of Europe. The Roads to Santiago (2008) focuses solely on the four French routes and the Camino Frances across Spain whereas the latest work Pilgrimage (2017) not only covers the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, but also features routes in Britain, France, Germany and concludes with the epic Via Francigena from Canterbury to Rome. Both books have been translated into several European languages. In addition to his publishing projects, Derry undertakes other commissioned work, has contributed to the invaluable work of CPRE (Campaign to Protect Rural England), conducts photography workshops and is also an engaging, informative and humorous public speaker.
